Shari Novick / Founder & CEO
Shari’s experience includes leadership roles at Siegel + Gale and Wolff Olins, where she launched the NYC office and led account teams in the delivery of branding, marketing, communications and design programs in the US, Europe and LatAm. NOVICKRAIS is the combination of brand and UX design agency SMITHRAIS and Planet Sur, which she founded to create sustainable brands and ventures that drive impact and growth.
Clients Shari has partnered with include E*TRADE, HP, Icon Aircraft, JPMorgan Chase, LVMH, MasterCard, Microsoft, MoMA, NASA, Nike, Pepsico, Scotiabank and US Steel. Most recently, she has been working with leaders in government and the public and private sectors to develop a country brand for a nation in the Caribbean to drive sustainable economic development by attracting foreign direct investment, trade and tourism. A frequent speaker, board member and awards show judge, she develops and leads workshops, participates on panels and presents at major conferences on the subjects of consumers, brands and branding, Corporate Culture & Sustainability and The Impact of Digitization on Society to executive audiences at Columbia Business School and grad students from the Masters in Branding program at SVA, to 400 ad and media executives at a local chapter of ABAP in Brazil. Shari was also invited to join in the first-ever roundtable on The Role of Diversity and Business in Economic Empowerment for All hosted by ING.
Van RAIS / Founder & Chief Creative Officer
Van’s approach to design comes from careful observation of and curiosity about society and culture—and a desire to provoke interaction between seemingly distant worlds. “Pushing the limitations of branding or using it as a platform for innovation,” he says, “is the way to find a unique point of view and brand identity.”
Van has worked with a wide range of brands on a variety of deliverables, from visual identities to websites and publishing to collateral, direct mail pieces, exhibits and environmental installations. Before becoming a founder of SMITHRAIS and cSuite, he held senior creative leadership positions at top New York agencies including Interbrand, Siegel+Gale, Lippincott, R/GA and AKQA. His clients have included AT&T, AviancaTaca Airline, BASELAYER (hardware/software for data centers), Province of Manitoba (Canada), CapitalOne, eBay, John Jay College, Hewlett-Packard, Hudson Connection (400 years of the Dutch in New York City), Intel, IO, Mars, Microsoft, Novelis, Starbucks, Telefonica, TelMex, Tishman, Verizon and Xerox.
